#3. Fiercely Guarding Nourishing Time

I have a lot on my mind today. I can already feel the temptation to put off my nourishing time until later, knowing full well that I might not get to it at all. There’s a lot of busyness, distractions, would-haves, could-haves, and should-haves.

It’s 10 minutes, Pete's sake! A chance to recharge, to decide, and then do what I think is important to get done. Or not. Or not!

Not everything on my plate needs to be there. So instead of blindly operating on autopilot and trying to do everything, I will be discerning and understanding that everyone and everything has its own path, just as I have mine. It is not my job to fix everything (or everyone), even if I’m good at it. That’s true for volunteer work and, at times, even for my family. We’re all grown adults with our own things to manage and our own lessons to learn.

I am taking this very necessary nourishing time to breathe, to reflect, to discern, and to energize. I’m happy that I’m taking this time - taking a breath.

At the end of the day, if all I take is these 10 nourishing minutes, my body thanks me greatly. I have heard my soul.

I am calming down. I am breathing more deeply. I am feeling my body, which feels tired and happy that I took a break. It doesn’t have to get my attention another way. For that, I am grateful.

Well, my 10-minute nourishing break is over! I’m glad I took it. I look forward to another Nourish in Ten. Maybe another one today?
